The Daily Grind: How do you deal with MMO know-it-alls?

There is a particular brand of MMO player that has the tendency to get on my nerves, and that is the person who acts as if she or he invented the game itself and knows more about it than anyone else. In any casual conversation about the MMO, its mechanics, or the various classes, this is the person who can’t help but leap in and trump everyone’s opinions and knowledge with far superior versions.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to share knowledge and advice, but there’s a line that’s crossed when a person starts to become obnoxious about it. I sometimes want to shout, “You didn’t invent this class, stop acting like it’s a special unicorn that you found and are the only person in the world who can communicate with it!”

Then I start thinking about unicorns and my blood pressure goes down.

How do you deal with MMO know-it-alls? Or do you not really encounter people like this at all?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
