The Daily Grind: What’s your latest MMO achievement?

Life is not what I wanted.

Achievements in MMOs are a nice way of marking off things that you’ve done, but there are no achievements for personal goals. You do not, for example, get an achievement for finally finishing your glamour in Final Fantasy XIV. There’s no achievement for finally getting a piece of gear you wanted for transmog in World of Warcraft or for getting a mount drop you’ve been farming for ages. There’s no achievement for beating the dungeon that you struggle with in Secret World Legends or managing to get a guild started in EverQuest II.

No, these are all personal achievements, and today, we want to hear about them. What’s your latest MMO achievement? Not necessarily an in-game achievement, just the most recent goal that you’ve been working on and finally finished. Acquiring cosmetic gear? Beating content? Finishing part of a long-term project? Let us know about it!

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

I guess it depends what you define as an achivement. I suppose the latest First of Note was solo-capturing the Eidolon Teralyst in Warframe, right before the recent patch that changed it to fully heal between each limb-break. It was an interesting intellectual exercise, but not something I’m keen to repeat now I’ve done it, and especially after that limb hp regen change.

I want Red Legion to burrrrrn.

You’ll be wanting Sunbreaker subclass for that… and Code of the Siegebreaker abilities :)

I haven’t led raids in nearly a decade and this expansion in World of Warcraft I got back into it, and i’m happy to say that we’re progressing as a pretty casual group quite well :)

Constructing an Inaros frame in Warframe (I’m still new, so this felt like an achievement), and hitting Mastery Rank 10.

Uninstalling Lineage 2 Revolution. Not only did it suck up a lot of time for s game that plays itself, they put things like “random piece of rare gear” (gear with PvP bonus) in the cash shop for $99 a box. No thanks.

STO – Finally got an alt out of Delta Rising and in to the current endgame (Iconian War, Temporal War, Lukari Emergence) without the mid-level crisis I seem prone to in STO setting in and prompting a re-roll.

GW2 – Soloed the Heart of Thorns finale ‘Hearts and Minds’ with my squishy elementalist. it was a horrorshow, don’t know how I got through it. Lucky I guess.

SWL – Finally got through ‘In the Dusty Dark’ tomb in Egypt after several abortive attempts. Although I can sit back and laugh now, it was pure gamer’s hell when I was doing it.

BTW, a bit off-topic; I know the STO Delta Rising expansion incurred its share of criticism from players, but I rather enjoyed it. The writing was overall very good and nostalgic, and they used the five ex-Voyager voice actors to great effect. In fact I was never a big fan of Voyager, but Delta Rising got me interested in revisiting that series. Also, the Hierarchy are hilarious!
