Have you ever yearned to build your own MMORPG, yet nobody’s throwing millions of dollars and big-name developers your way to make that happen? The best we can do here at Massively OP is to point you in the direction of Fableverse, a new project that might just do the trick.

Fableverse is an open-source text-based MMORPG game engine that’s designed to let non-programmers try their hand at building an online world. It bills itself as easy to use, easy to share, and fully stocked with all sorts of multiplayer features. The engine is currently in beta alpha and will require creators to pay some sort of subscription fee to use in the future.

“Fableverse is a browser-based text MMORPG game engine that is heavily inspired by MUDs,” its author wrote on Reddit. “I want to make it easy for writers and creators of all kinds to create games in their browser with zero programming experience. Everything will be hosted through Fableverse and for players, it will be free-to-play.”
