The Daily Grind: How do you view other players in the MMO landscape?

If you’ve ever played a fully or mostly dead MMORPG (and I have), then you’ll know that super-eerie feeling that comes with traversing a landscape that’s utterly devoid of other players. For all of their quirks, fellow players bustling about you add to the feeling of a living world.

But how do you view them? When you encounter another player, do you see it as an opportunity to socialize? Is there a blossoming of comradery in your bosom? Does it irk you to see a badly named character bunny-hopping around the place? Do you sometimes view other players as competition for mobs and resources?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
