The Daily Grind: Which MMO studio has the most credibility?

Punch drunk.

Some MMO studios love to treat credibility in much the same way that you treat a tissue during a head cold, there to be used momentarily and be thrown away. It is not really a great look or a great long-term approach, but it is what some studios choose to do. But it’s not universal. Some studios take the time to build up their credibility, earn trust, and generally do right by their players often enough that people are more than willing to extend those studios the benefit of the doubt.

And some studios are Blizzard and just have people willing to extend them the benefit of a doubt even as the studio sets itself on fire, at which point people will emerge from the woodwork to explain how great being on fire might be.

It’s quite possible that the good kind of credibility extends to games you may not play or at least not play actively. I trust that studios like ArenaNet, Square’s Creative Business Unit 3, and Bungie are telling the truth because they have a long history of trying to do right by players and behaving well. So which MMO studio do you think has the most credibility? Which studio would you be the most likely to believe for unusual problems or the most willing to trust in awkward circumstances?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
