The Daily Grind: Have you ever sold your MMO account?

The other day a random line in an otherwise forgettable article reminded me that, once upon a time, it was a lot more common for people to sell their MMO accounts. They’d work hard to build up characters, stockpiles of gold, huge unlocks — and then wing that over to eBay or some other third-party middleman to trade for a chunk of cash.

Despite it being against pretty much every EULA I know and probably not that smart from a security perspective, account reselling’s never bothered me. I haven’t done it, mind you, but that’s because nobody would want my messy assortment of goofy characters and repair debt.

So I’m curious and will put this out to our readership today: Who among you has sold your MMO account? Were you happy with the result or did you regret it later?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
