The Daily Grind: What are your favorite ‘wide-open’ MMO zones?

Around the turn of the century, I was living in Colorado and absolutely loving it. It was my first time ever living in the west, and the sense of space and distance was all around me. I adored being able to see for ages in various directions and feeling like nobody was crowding me.

Maybe I’m a bit of an isolationist country boy at heart, but I tend to like this in MMOs as well. Zones that eschew packed, cluttered scenery for more sparse yet beautiful landscapes are among my favorite to visit. Being able to see to the horizon drives me to head out there and explore.

What are some of your favorite wide-open, spacious zones in MMORPGs?
