The Daily Grind: Are you reluctant to start new MMORPGs?

When I sat down a few weeks ago to play Tarisland – whenever I sit down to play any new MMORPG, really – I had a weird mixture of feelings. First is that rush of wonder from any new toy, of knowing there’s a great world out there to explore and a new character to make and new experiences just waiting there for me. And second is that dragging-my-feet feeling that reminds me I have to go through a whole learning process and the grind of getting established in something that might not even work out.

Sometimes the first one wins, especially if my curiosity and desire to bring back Knowledge to podcast listeners and conjure new inspiration for posts wins out. Aaaaand sometimes the second stops me from even wanting to go have the look-see. These two feelings do not get along!

Are you ever reluctant to start new MMORPGs? What drives that reluctance for you, and how do you punch through it?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
