The Daily Grind: Which MMOs went out on a high note?

I vant you to keel tunnel moose.

I don’t hate the Voracious Resurgence in Final Fantasy XI, but I kind of dislike it just because it makes the game’s previous narrative “finale” of Rhapsodies of Vana’diel no longer actually being the finale. Oh, sure, you can still play it last, but it was a really nice high note to go out on before the game went into maintenance mode, although Square-Enix made it clear that its definition of “maintenance mode” was oddly active.

The vast majority of MMOs do not go out on high notes. Unexpected and unwanted shutdowns, sudden maintenance mode, closing before ever leaving early access… the list goes on. But some manage to go out at least on something of a planned note. So are there any that went out on a high note? MMOs that saw their final updates coming and made them something to remember and enjoy?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
