I recently undertook what turned into the mammoth task of compiling all of the upcoming MMOs that we’re watching. It ended up being a whole lot — far more than I originally assumed. And while there are a lot of smaller or far out projects on that list, the more I put it together, the more upbeat I got about the future of the industry.
Sure, it was a year of ups and downs, but personally I feel just as energized and psyched to be playing and covering MMOs as I ever have. There’s a hunger for more virtual worlds that’s easy to see, and maturing MMOs have done a whole lot to make their games worth returning to.
I’ll kick this question your way today: Are you feeling optimistic, pessimistic, or neutral about the MMO scene these days — and why?
Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
