The Daily Grind: What was the most wholesome thing a stranger did for you in an MMO?

Oh, look, Giddy.

One night in Final Fantasy XI, I was deep in a higher-level cave system with a friend grabbing a treasure. We grabbed it, but he and I both had to go to sleep, so what we both did was navigate to the nearest exit, he Warped away, I logged out there intending to run up the ramp to the city the next day. But… it turns out we had gone into the wrong exit, and there was no way out from where I was. I was trapped, stepped back into the zone, and announced as much.

Then a total stranger who was farming something took the time to come find me, group with me, and lead me out of the cave. No money asked for, no problem, just a moment of time spent to save me a death.

A lot of the people here do wholesome things, and there are always wholesome things that people do for their friends. But today, I want to hear your wholesome stories from others. I want to hear about the time a stranger rescued you from a dangerous area or gave you an item you need or offered you a guide. What was the most wholesome thing a stranger did for you in an MMO?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
