Absolver shows off the basics of character creation and equipment

When you play Absolver, your character’s face is a mask. You don’t get to see more than that. But there’s still room for character creation despite that; players can choose different genders and hairstyles, after all. A new video from the game’s development team shows off the character creation as well as what it means to have a game where character faces are never seen, moving customization in a different direction altogether.

Obviously, this means offering players a wide variety of outfit choices and ways to differentiate characters thusly; the flip side is that players will have to carefully consider the properties of each piece of equipment. More defensive gear is often heavier and will slow players more, while lighter gear might not blunt the impact of a blow to the same degree. Check out the full video below for a look at creation, lore, and armor all in one place.

What online capabilities does this game have? I understand it isn’t a conventional MMO, but are there hubs where you can see other players? Even form social groups?

I am super interested in this game. I think I said it in another topic but it looks like For Honor if it was made by Fumito Ueda or something. I’m definitely keeping an eye on this. Launches the same day as Mario + Rabbids, though. And the XCOM 2 expansion. .. Damn.

Well, faceless games like this and Warframe and others have taught me something I didn’t realize before. My chars have to have faces. No face, no play.

This entire game wears a mask. Big red flag with the lack of info.

I REALLY wish character creators in all games would have the damn avatar stand STILL.. I mean seriously when your adjusting and changing things so long as you have the ability to rotate and zoom in or out thats all we need. Having the avatar bouncing around likes its on hot coals and turning and moving its head constantly is incredibly annoying. lol

Avatars that stay still, multiple lighting settings, and height comparison charts are three things every character creator needs to have in my opinion. Especially having characters stand still. I get that developers want to show off their animations. But .. time and place.

I have a hard time with the name of this game. I know it’s supposed to be ‘Absolver’ with a ‘z’ and one syllable but for me all I see is ‘Ab Solver’. The expectation of seeing Suzanne Somers shilling some dubious piece of exercise equipment is too strong.

Please say I’m not the only one that saw that header image and instantly thought, “Is that SWTOR?”

To be fair Star Wars got it from martial arts movies.
