LOTRO’s Ugrukhor isn’t too happy with the state of affairs in Mordor

The power vacuum created after the fall of Sauron in Middle-earth has wide-spread ramifications for Mordor (the country) and Mordor (the expansion). In its latest enemy leader spotlight video, Lord of the Rings Online checks in with Ugrukhor and finds a man who is not too pleased with his current position.

Aside from his unfortunate name, Ugrukhor feels passed over for glory and power as he’s left as a steward in Udun. Check out this Anakin Skywalker-wannabe and listen to his griping after the break!

Ugrukhor reminds me of someone I’ve seen in a popular TV show but I can’t quite put my finger on it…

It just feels like they’re trying to make up for the release trailer without admitting how bad it was. I’d rather they put time/energy into game issues.

Obviously not programmers make this video so if Cordovan wants to train his vids-making skill, let him go.

I love the game, flaws and all. Don’t have time to be petulant. Someone has made nearly the entire map that Tolkien drew. That’s a remarkable achievement, it won’t last forever, and I shall walk there through its misty woods and dark places and green Shire while it yet exists.
And y’all who don’t like it can smooch my elfy butt. :)

This video wasn’t as good as the previous post disaster Expansion Trailer (which should be held as the poster child example of what not to produce and release as an Expansion Trailer). I enjoyed the previous ones, this one lacked and felt more like that terrible Expansion Trailer.

I really enjoy these little character trailers. I’ve always thought the best thing about LOTRO was the way its story played off of the themes of the books and recombined them to make these new characters and side plots that still feel true to the world.

Yes, things like the Ranger Amdir… the dwarf Skullgrim… they do a good job of coming up with names put through the LOTR language blender too, even the “random” character name generator ends up sounding plausible.

I think it’s great that someone is officially expanding on Middle-Earth’s Lore. We should have more of that.

These aren’t getting any better, unless they’re supposed to be comedy videos.

It’s fitting because the client/server performance, class balance, end-game grind, content value of an overpriced expansion, and fleshing out of a pay to play class (Beorning) aren’t getting any better either.

But please folks, insert credit card here.

Troll much? Most of what you said is absolutely free with just playing the game you can buy all, and or course a company should be able to make some money to stay a float this is no charity shit. I hate wining people and lotro is getting some winners as of late … wining there is no content, wining there is content, wining there are no new classes, wining there are new classes and races, there is no way to please the consumer these days.

Do you mean whining? Because I don’t think you mean winning and the variations of that spelling that you did repeatedly in your post.

LezyLex is being hyperbolic in tone which means his points can’t be taken seriously as posted by him. That said there is some amount of truth in my opinion on some of the points. Too bad he didn’t bother to be more articulate and on point.

The 32bit client/engine leaves a lot to be desired and suffers in any area where even a small amount of players are in the same area. This is a fact and has always been a fact. No matter how high end your system is, there are serious limitations to in this client that prevent it from being near as smooth as it should be.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous game world and I love it and have since it was first released. That said ten years later and Bree is still a yo-yo-ing mess of hi/low frame rates due to said engine shortcomings and Minas Tirith is worse, and this is before you take into account players being around when you are in those locations.

Class balance, is quite iffy but I give SSG a pass because as anyone who has spent any amount of time in playing mmorgs, class balance is difficult. If LezyLex is talking about class balance in regards to creeps versus freeps, well that’s always been a tacked on system hasn’t it. Something put in for those who clambered repeatedly for it at the start of the game. It is a mess and always will be in my opinion. A series of hit and misses.

Beornings don’t feel finished in my opinion and like monsterpvp the class feels tacked on. Whereas when the Runekeeper and Warden were released they felt and played better in my opinion.

Honestly what I think LezyLex fails to see is that for all the shortcomings, issues etc with LotRO, it still shines through that it’s a labor of love for most of SSG aka Turbine. That has always shown very strongly to me as I’ve played the game over the last ten years off and on.

Want to know my big complaint? World Chat, wow. Talk about a real fucking downer. Ever since the great server merge of 2015 the communities have been different. Or maybe I was just naive and lucky with my choice of a smaller, quieter server from the start. I choose Nimrodel in June of 2017 because I wanted a smaller population.

Here’s the thing, though we had our off an on trolls, they were a very small group of people. Kinships and character names that were inappropriate weren’t stood for and changed. I didn’t ever witness nightly sexism, racism, homophobia, general harassment and political trolling every damn night like I do now in World chat. It’s so bad that I end up having to turn it off.

My issue with that is that by keeping World Chat off you are isolating yourself and missing out on part of the community, adding people to ignore just doesn’t work because those you still want to hear from will still talk at/to those trolls. Turbine used to be much better about not allowing this sort of behavior to run rampant.

It is one of the things I held up as one of the good things that they did, when I compared them to any other mmorpg out there that I played. Nowadays World Chat is as bad as the worst of the crap that I used to see in Age of Conan, WoW’s Barren’s Chat etc. It’s like 4chan or the crappier areas of Reddit. :/

Allowing this is a failure on the part of SSG and will cost them die hard fans who are Tolkien fans like myself. It drives us away in the end. Also in my case they’re driving one of their whale players ( really dislike that term). If I see something I need I’ll spend money, I have the spare cash to do so and won’t hesitate to max out storage for all 11 characters, I don’t hesitate to max out shared storage or use reputation multipliers on secondary characters etc.

So by alienating someone like me they risk losing thousands of dollars. I also always subscribe when I play because I believe absolutely in supporting the game developer of the game I am playing. I don’t try to avoid giving them money in other words. Hell this year alone since coming back I’ve given them around a grand so far and the years not over. (Shrugs)

Something has to change if SSG wants to stay in business, and if you feel that I’m wining (as you spelled it/whining, then so be it. I’m whining. ;p I also speak loudly with my wallet, an improved wallet at that.

Edit: Btw, they really need to do scheduled maintenance on the servers every two weeks. That 32bit client needs it run smoother. The memory leaks and data library fragmentation is terrible and negatively impacts the servers pretty quickly.

Troll post? None of your rambling remarks addressed any of the concerns brought up in my post preceding them.

Client/server performance — Constant client crashes and server hitching experienced by the large majority of community base. SSG has mentioned they are working on a 64-bit client to hopefully help with some of the memory related issues, but they have made no promises and have no ETA.

Class balance — Classes like the Guardian have suffered from bugs in many aspects of the game. One such bleed issue for over a year without being thoroughly addressed, other than a “we’re looking into it” during a livestream 6 months ago and another update that did not correct the problem.

Runekeeper & Tactical damage rating on LI scaling — Reported as an issue in beta and has yet to be addressed. Due to the limitations in gear available to the RK throughout Mordor (106+), the scaling of RKs in comparison to the mobs around them is broken, leading to extremely poor cases of DPS and inability to remain competitive in any end-game content.

Beorning — All three specs suffer and are by far, the least viable class in the game. They have not received any updates to address their issues since their initial release (which was also botched — look up the might vs agility gear availability debacle). As this class requires you to pay money for it separately from the main game, it’s a shame and surprise that the class is great up until 70-80, and from then on becomes worse and worse to the point they are irrelevant in all aspects of the game.

End-game Grind — strongly recommend viewing the LOTRO Analysis & Review by AndrewAllStars on YouTube for a thoughtful description of the issues.

Overpriced Expansion — covered in MUCH better depth by MassivelyOP (http://massivelyop.com/2017/07/14/lotro-legendarium-mordors-pre-order-is-flat-out-ridiculous/), LOTRO & MMO Fansites. The fact the latest content release (currently on Bullroarer) only contains 2 instances and 1 raid is absolutely pathetic when you compare the amount of content you received from previous expansions. I won’t even get into the quality of these instances, that has taken a significant turn for the worse.

New classes and races that they charge additional money for and are then summarily ignored is not a cause for celebration on the developer’s behalf. I’m a strong believer in voting with my wallet.

Gonna ignore my post I see. Yes, you are indeed trolling Lazylex. Sad to see that though you are a LotRO text longer than a tweet appears to overwhelm you.

Btw I forgot to mention one other thing in my previous post. Lockboxes, holy hell did they go overboard with them this expansion.
I might be a whale player but I can’t stand lockboxes and the negative impact they have on the game.

My main character has 19 or 20 by the time he capped in the new expansion. Wow, was I surprised. I’ve opened six of them so far and I have not been impressed at all. So much so that I’ve not bothered to buy anymore black keys. Oh and how they handled the steel key/black steel key thing was bullshit as well.

I’ve instead spent my money when I’ve bought things on slayer deeds multipliers and of course all my characters have pocket item that stops experience so I can work on slayer deeds, virtues etc. Again, this mmorpg isn’t perfect and they are doing many things absolutely wrong, but overall I still enjoy it. That doesn’t mean I won’t hesitate to call out what I don’t like and why.

You on the other hand might want to go back to Reddit/4chan and tweeting, since posts longer than a tweet appear beyond your capacity or willingness to read.
