Mei’s slim waistline is a bug, Overwatch team says

Here's Mei! You like mei, right?

If you’re a big fan of Overwatch’s Mei, you might have noticed that following yesterday’s big Lunar New Year patch, Mei’s Chinese New Year-themed skins didn’t quite match her regular body. Blizzard, however, has said this is just a bug.

“There’s a bug with Mei’s Luna and Chang’e skins right now that’s causing her waist to appear much smaller than normal. We’ve already fixed the bug internally, but it’s going to require a patch to implement (ideally it’ll be included in whatever next patch hits your gaming platform). Thanks for the quick reports, btw. And happy Lunar New Year!”

Kotaku, which brought mainstream attention to the issue, suggested that the skin “would upset people who identified with the character because of this,” but come on. I adore Mei and love that she exists, and even I know the uproar is mostly just about pr0n.

The Year of the Rooster event runs through February 13th.
