This right here is why we need more sci-fi MMORPGs: We’re coming up on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing next month, marking the perfect occasion for online games to take advantage of. Who’s up first? Star Conflict, of all titles.
“StarGem Inc. and Gaijin Entertainment are announcing the release of the ‘Moon Race’ Update for the inter-galatic MMO Star Conflict. Joining in as the world celebrates the 50 Year Anniversary of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landing on the Moon, for three months, players will be able to take part in the ‘Moon Race’ event and get plenty of in-game of rewards. This includes the grand prize, which awaits the most daring spacefarers – the Custodian, an exclusive frigate to join the player fleet.”
Apparently, the race will be spread out over three phases of 30 stages apiece that are unlocked as players progress, along with a beta test for a new PvE mission and a sweet grand prize at the end of the last stage, the Custodian frigate. Just bear this in mind: “While the first and every fifth stage are open to all pilots, access to all of the stages is reserved only to buyers of the ‘Lunar Pass’.”
