At the time of this story’s writing, it is Friday the 13th, which either brings to mind goofy horror monsters, bad luck traditions, or mild annoyance that so many people would attribute so much to a single day of the year. For Star Trek online, it’s as good a reason as any to offer up a mission that’s a bit more spooky than one might expect out of the game.
The mission in question, “Hearts and Minds,” tells the story of some unconventional scientific research that — surprise! — has gone wrong in one way or the other. The mission is told in a single self-contained act and offers a special reward for its completion, though anyone who has completed the mission before can still do so again for another copy of the same reward. If you happen to be squeamish, there’s nothing to fear; the mission’s narrative is described as more creepy than gruesome.
