Anthem’s Regulator Shop will now let players buy Legendary items

There’s been a little update to Anthem that appears to have made a pretty big change for players. The Regulator Shop, which previously only sold crafting materials to players for Coin, is now going to sell Legendary items.

This update is mostly tuned for level 30 players who don’t really find much value in buying crafting materials by that point according to the update post. Level 30 players will get items at 80 power and players below level 30 will get their items scaled to their respective levels. Players are being told to keep an eye on the store just in case a Legendary weapon or Legendary item that they want shows up in the stock.

According to replies on the Anthem subreddit, the cost for these items is 2,000 Coins. It also appears to be an update that’s generally well received, though there are still a couple of grumpy reactions to the update because Reddit. Still, it’s always nice to see some sort of positive update for this game.

It is an interesting development. Anthem has no auction house, so gold earned doesn’t come from anything other than game play. No pay to win scenarios here. BUT, gold can also be used to buy cash shop items. Interesting choices that will have to be made, I suppose.

It’s a good move overall.

I guess it is no different than Xur in Destiny..

It is sort of the same, yeah. But there is more RNG in that the item inscriptions could either be god like or total crap.

Embracing the foolhardiness of it, I bought the special addition of Anthem on Origin for $10. I could have had the regular edition for $8.99, so I figured the extra buck and a penny was me being wild and crazy.

Then I tried to play it. First, an extremely long load screen. Like, go make a sandwich and do the dishes afterward length. Then, the inescapable ‘tutorial’ where you run around and shoot things. Then an incredibly long load screen. Then disconnect. Began reloading . . . but . . .

My impatience meter was incredibly full and needed to be discharged. I did a blitz attack on the launcher. I can report that the best experience I had with Anthem was when it stopped.

A single item per javelin at the same time. It’ll take months to get desired item listed in the shop.

Seems to me like a bit of a catch-up mechanism.
I don’t think that many people are playing anthem these days, so being able to jump up to the big league difficulties quicker probably helps keeping the playerbase together.

Might also be a nice incentive to try out one of the other javelins

Actually the game has seen in resurgance in population since the holiday event late last year.

But your point is well made. The people who came back need something like this to keep their play going. And with no new content until Anthem 2.0 they need to try and keep people engaged.

It won’t last long though…
