The Daily Grind: Which MMOs are making you happy at the start of 2021?

Welcome to funky town.

There hasn’t yet been time for any major updates or changes to hit most games in 2021. That’s just the reality; we’ve only been in this year for a couple of days. So it stands to reason that whatever games are making you happy now are the same ones making you happy at the end of last year. Maybe you’re still really enjoying the heck out of World of Warcraft with the new expansion. Maybe Final Fantasy XIV remains your jam. Maybe you still don’t understand why a chunk of the world moved on from RuneScape.

Still, it’s useful to note these things, because over the course of a year this stuff can change. All sorts of games will feature updates, both minor and major. New things will happen, new content will be introduced, new challenges will roll out. So with the year still fresh in everyone’s mind, which MMOs are making you happy at the start of 2021? And if you feel like being predictive, do you think that’ll still be the case at the end of the year?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Wwaaaaaagghhh !!!

This might come as a surprise but the mmo that I and several friends started back up recently is Rift.

I also always have an install of SWTOR on my computer… I would love it if EA signed off for buoware to make a next generation star wars mmo.

Picked up GW2 again. I haven’t played since the scarlet event all those years ago. I have ALOT to catch up on and I STILL haven’t settled on a class and I only have 1 more to level =(

A combination of 3
– Lotro when I want to talk to people
– Darkfall Rise of Agon when I want to fight people and
– No Mans Sky when I want to be alone

Reconnecting with some old pals in FFXIV lately. They got me out of the slump I was in following 3.55’s housing debacle. Also looking forward to the 6.0 presentation Feb 5th.

I’ve been having a lot of fun slaying, skilling and questing in Old School RuneScape. My ultimate goal is to get the Quest Point Cape, and the journey’s been fun.

Haven’t really been hardcoring any MMOs lately. They’ve been fun social experiences while chatting with friends on Discord and playing FF7R and Pokemon LeafGreen.

Playing EQ2 for the first time, and while it felt quite impenetrable the first few days, I’m really enjoying myself.

Just the ammount of content and the heritage quests that feel quite epic it’s enough for years of fun.

This game deserves so much more.

Black Desert Online.

LOTRO. Been leveling a Burglar last few weeks. Taking advantage of VIP weekend right now. Tab target is still the life for me. Plentiful skills over a few spammy hotkeys any day.

I keep on trucking with SWTOR, having fun decorating my stronghold.

I just started STO back up, litrr6 3 days ago. Talk about a major learning curve! It’s been 5+ years since I last played it.

Neverwinter. Played/streamed it all last year, ready too do the same!
With Mod20 right around the corner, and the combat changes (which personally love)
Can’t wait.
