The Daily Grind: Do you use the same name in multiple MMOs?

No, this doesn't count.

A friend of mine uses the same name in every single MMO he plays. To protect his identity, I’m going to claim that the name in question is “BigDragonTickler.” Now… as a roleplayer, I don’t really understand on an essentially level why you’d want to name your character BigDragonTickler. For one thing, it seems like something no one would name their child, with the possible exception of Elon Musk. For another, it’s just not a great name. But hey, everyone knows him by that name.

“Oh, so you never reuse your names?” I most certainly did not say that. Actually, I have a pretty core stable of characters whom I roleplay and adapt and shift to various settings as I play them elsewhere. So I can definitely understand that impulse, as well as the simple joy of letting people know that if you see BigDragonTickler that’s the BigDragonTickler. So what about you? Do you use the same name in multiple MMOs? Or do you not worry about being that unified?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
