The Daily Grind: How much time do you spend on MMOs you don’t play?

I spend a lot of time talking, reading, and thinking about MMOs I do not play and do not want to play. Some of them are games I just benevolently have no particular interest in, some of them are games I actively dislike, and some of them are demonstrably bad games that no one should want to play. But a good portion of my day every day is devoted to talking, reading, and thinking about MMOs I do not play… because it’s literally my job, and that means understanding the industry, which means that the limits of my personal interest are not the limits of my understanding.

What’s your excuse?

All right, maybe you don’t need one. Maybe you don’t devote a bunch of your time to reading about games you don’t play and don’t particularly like, which would be the more healthy approach to take. But maybe you spend a lot of time reading and talking about games you don’t play and don’t intend to, maybe even more time than you spend focused on the MMOs you actually do play. So how much time do you spend on the games you aren’t playing?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
