The Daily Grind: Do you like playing MMOs in first-person perspective?

No gains.

I do not like first-person cameras. At all. Ever. That’s not to say there are no games with that camera perspective I like, but rather that when there’s a game I like that uses a first-person camera, I like it in spite of the camera. This does not really extend to MMOs, simply because… well, I have lots of other options. I have yet to find an MMO I personally find so compelling that I’m willing to overlook a camera style I don’t enjoy, although some of that is just the games I tend to like.

Some people really like having a first-person camera, though. Heck, some people get very upset that a large number of MMOs technically have a first-person mode but it doesn’t work very well and it’s really just a matter of being very zoomed in. Some people don’t care one way or the other. So do you like playing MMOs in first-person perspective? Or would you rather see your character from the outside as much as possible?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
