The Daily Grind: Are you MMO friends with people in other countries?

One of the truly neat social side effects of MMOs is that you get to connect with people all around the world and learn about various cultures and countries. The other night in my guild chat, an Austrian was going on and on about the various types of sausages they have there and how hard it is to find proper sausages in other places.

Without MMOs, I would’ve never met one of my best online friends who hails from Bern, Switzerland. We’ve had a lot of solid conversations sharing our lifestyles and favorite things about our countries (and maybe a bit of teasing as well!).

Are you MMO friends with anyone in other countries? What’s that been like for you? What have you learned over the years from those friendships?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
