Gusts 'n' stuff

It’s important to read the room. You might have come up with the funniest conceivable joke about a bear attack, but if you share it with a bunch of survivors of the Great Yellowstone Grizzly Uprising of 2007, you are probably not going to get a warm reception. The same is true of MMO developers. Not that they’re all making jokes about bear attacks, but that they are all capable of misreading the room and thus making themselves look worse because no one stopped to ask, for example, “Is it going to look really bad if we put this cash shop mount for sale right now?”

Every single studio has its moments of misreading the room, of course. But some studios are usually good with the occasional mistake, and others are… well, mostly mistakes with a couple of unexpected successes thrown in. So which MMO studio is actually the worst at this? Which studios make you expect that someone’s going to say the wrong thing at the wrong time and enrage the player base whilst trying to mollify them?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
