Kickstarted virtual reality MMO Zenith has a major update on the horizon. How big is it? It’s so big that it’s getting a “2.0” moniker and starting its journey with the playerbase via a closed pre-alpha test this coming weekend.
While the test will be under NDA, we do know that it’ll be focusing on the game’s new “core design pillars,” including making all players feel powerful, incentivizing group-orienting play, simplifying gameplay systems, adding new stuff more regularly, be easy to learn but hard to master, and be even more geared toward virtual reality mechanics.
The studio admitted that it’s been running Zenith “at a loss on a month-to-month basis for the better part of a year,” so this update is a clear attempt at a hail Mary play.
“Ultimately, we had to make a choice between making fundamental changes or putting the game on ice. We made these decisions so that we could keep running Zenith for as long as possible,” the studio said.
