The Daily Grind: Are there MMOs that make you sad to play?

We still care.

I’ve written a couple times about the way that our history in MMOs can sometimes ripple through in our play experiences, which is not necessarily a positive thing. Sometimes stepping into an MMO you once loved can be really painful. Not because of design, but because the people who once made this so important to you are no longer here and you can’t help but be reminded of that every time you move through zones you once shared.

Or maybe it’s not people you lost but the simple reality that you’re no longer the person you once were, and that person makes you sad. Heck, maybe it’s just that the MMO reminds you of happier times, or even just different times. Whatever the case may be, are there MMOs that make you sad to play? Games you once loved and maybe even still do that feel sad to explore at this point?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
