Entropia Universe has not been one to ignore a big shiny bandwagon – remember that this MMO has tried to hawk egg NFTs and seen its players pay eye-watering amounts of real-world money in some cases for absurd digital ephemera – so now it’s decided to join the chorus of AI faithful by announcing the creation of an AI president to govern its game.
“The AI President will analyze vast amounts of data, employ sophisticated algorithms, and engage directly with players in order to drive innovation, assist in maintaining the delicate balance of the in-game economy and optimize in-game experiences for players. As the AI evolves, it will possess an unparalleled understanding of Entropia Universe’s extensive data and complex systems. This will lead to the AI President having the ability to propose new systems and enhancements, suggesting modifications based on player feedback and real-world economic considerations.
Developer MindArk claims several times in the press release that this project is the first time an AI has led a company, but it’s not: Chinese company NetDragon tried to pull the same schtick before when it appointed an AI CEO and ended up mostly showcasing how grossly overpaid and generally pointless CEOs are. To be fair, this AI sounds more like a digital game director than a CEO, but it’s still arguably another mile marker for this MMO’s march into techbro inanity.
