With Dune Awakening on the way, I’ve had the Litany against fear in my head – you know, “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.” And wouldn’t you know it, I have some of these little reminders I repeat to myself about MMOs too.
“Endgame is the worst thing that ever happened to MMOs” pops to mind for me, though I’m loath to give my old work on AOL clicks. That piece is 10 years old, and it’s still rattling around in my brain (and still true). But I have a few others.
- MMOs are not my supervisor. I work in the MMO genre; I do not work for MMOs.
- MMOs are supposed to be fun, and if I’m not having fun, then I should find one that is fun.
- The MMO genre is cyclical and always comes around again, so stop freaking out.
Do you have an MMO mantra?
Or hell – any mantra to help you get through today?
