To be a bit more specific, this addition includes the new adventure zone of Chult Jungle, the Port Nyanzaru social hub, and the Tomb of the Nine Gods dungeon. It also features the new monster hunts with Volo and the continuing campaign storyline for players to enjoy. Check out the launch trailer just below, and log in and start patching if you can’t wait to be welcomed to the jungle. (And, quite possibly, welcomed to the internal digestive tract of a tyrannosaur shortly thereafter.)

With the new hunt system, players can group up and head out to certain locations to summon legendary foes to defeat. By doing this, they’ll gradually work their way up a chain from one-star threats to the greatest dinosaur in the jungle. Since certain hunts have to be completed before the next is accessible, players will eventually go through them all before climbing their way to the top of the food chain.
The rewards, the devs promise, will be worth it: “Successfully defeating a hunt target grants Forgotten Totems and Chultan Riches to everyone in the party, as well as giving adventurers a chance at either the trophy for that beast or one of a number of pieces of rare equipment. Each beast has a different selection of items, so it is worth seeking out all the different hunt targets throughout the zone.”
But perhaps you’re not interested in the lore tour, just the art side of things. Good news; there’s a new piece about exactly that, covering the challenges of making the city look distinct and novel with a very short amount of pre-production time. It’s useful for lovers of game production and concept art, and it shows how all of the locales you’ll visit on your tour came into existence.
