Corporate acquisitions take a while, but Activision Blizzard has completed its acquisition of King Digital Entertainment, a deal which was first announced back in November. The acquisition involved quite a bit of money changing hands for the now-independent developer to acquire full rights to the Candy Crush development studio.

Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, stated that the company will be looking to use the combined network of both companies to reach hundreds of millions of gamers across the world.

quixadhal Naw, they’ll just give you an energy bar so you can only do so many quests or harvest so much at one time, then you’ll have to either pay $2 to play more, or play a game of Candy Crush.

PizzaDoh Superbrak karmamule Um, Smash Bros. never expanded out of Nintendo IPs.  So you’re basically hoping HotS continues doing exactly what it’s been doing.

Coconut Wheel (Special Candy)!

Jokes aside, it would be interesting to see if any Blizzard IPs beyond Hearthstone will get mobile stuff made.  Could definitely see a Starcraft mobile strategy game being done.  Or hell I’d be totally fine with a WoW companion app that let you manage garrison/class order halls.

Ugh.  Well, let’s face it, World of Warcraft has been slowly becoming a Facebook game for many years now anyway.  This new turn of events late last year didn’t surprise me in the least.
