The Daily Grind: Which MMO has had the best year so far?

Well, I had fun.

We’re just about halfway through the year, and it’s been a pretty big one. Sure, some games have had a rough time, but the first half of 2016 has seen some high-profile launches from Overwatch and Black Desert Online, more expansion stuff for Star Wars: The Old Republic, plenty of patches for Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XI, and doubtlessly more things that I can’t recall at the moment. In short, lots of stuff.

Of course, we’re not quite halfway yet, which means that there’s still a lot of year left – time enough for a new expansion for World of Warcraft and Star Trek Online, another expansion announcement expected for Final Fantasy XIV, and so forth. But right now, let’s look back over the past five months. Which MMO has had the best year so far? And for bonus points, which one do you think is going to go on to have a banner year by the time everything is said and done?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
