The Daily Grind: What MMO would you like with a different game’s combat engine?

But not quite so much.

There are things I really like about The Secret World; the combat has never been one of them. However, if I could somehow mix The Secret World‘s ornate progress tree with WildStar‘s responsive and active combat, I would be beyond happy. No, I have no idea how in the world that would work, but that isn’t the point right here; it’s the fact that it’d be a great chance to combine a setting and world I like with a set of mechanics I like. It’d be fun.

Obviously, the combat mechanics of games define quite a bit about how the game feels; City of Heroes would have been a very different game if its combat had felt like Guild Wars 2, for example. But let’s abandon all of the fine details for a moment. What MMO would you like with a different game’s combat engine? Is it a game with combat you like that you’d just enjoy seeing with different battle mechanics, or one that you want to like more that could stand to be married to more interesting battles?
