You might think that the Grand Theft Auto universe online is populated chiefly by people pretending to be gangster thugs and extreme sports thrill seekers. And you might be right. But there’s apparently an entire corner of the GTA online fandom that is happily roleplaying out their lives on custom-hosted servers running a roleplay mod called GTA RP in combination with multiplayer mods GTA FiveM and Grand Theft Multiplayer. Instead of making you play the same iteration of the low-life criminal you’re playing in the regular franchise, the mods allow you to play whatever you like. Don’t just be a crime lord; be the crime lord’s Uber driver!
A whole slew of these servers has cropped up since the release of the mod, but the one gaining traction right now is NoPixel, thanks to streamers popularizing it with their antics. (Protip: Ironic roleplaying is still roleplaying!) The clips Dexerto rounded up are NSFW – seriously, NSFW! – but they show some of the hilarity being broadcast for a new generation of watchers. We love the attack scene with a player camera guy recording the whole thing in-character.
So, who wants to see MJ stream her life as an Uber driver on one of these servers?
