The end of the world just got delayed

What happens when you try to shoehorn in an event into creaky infrastructure that you never built? Chances are, nothing good. Little Orbit is in this exact situation with Fallen Earth right now as the new owners are trying to get the game’s new 10th anniversary event going even while the title is counting down the days until its closure.

Over the weekend, Little Orbit CEO Matt Smith delivered updates on the situation, saying that it was having problems with the updater system that delivers the patches (such as the aforementioned event). He vowed to “run [the event] anyway as soon as it’s ready,” which could be as soon as today if all goes well.

And speaking of the shutdown, the end of Fallen Earth’s current run might enjoy a slight reprieve. “There have been some questions about when the server will go offline,” Smith said. “I want the event to run for a full two weeks. I’ll announce the last day when the event goes live as well.”
