The Daily Grind: Have you ever dreamed about an MMO?

Over and over.

At least two or three times a year, I have the World of Warcraft expansion dream. It’s usually really nice. There are new systems in this new expansion, which has a title I can’t recall. It features a lot of the aesthetics I like. It’s not about beating up the latest super-powerful maniac to threaten the world. There is crumbling stonemasonry and world-building. Then I wake up and remember that’s not the case at all, and I get a bit sad that it’s all just a dream.

It is entirely possible that I am alone in these dreams and other people don’t spend time in their unconscious minds formulating games and expansions which do not exist. But maybe I’m not alone. To be clear, though, I’m not talking about speculation here; I am talking about actual dreams, falling unconscious and then having a lengthy dream about Secret World Legends or whatever. So have you ever dreamed about an MMO?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Yep. Strangely – WoW. Do not play it much, never was there for real.

Something like Vanguard: SOH. A very sophisticated, convoluted game – I’ve been on a trail of some skills and following it I had to play through the area with raising difficulty as my character adapts to this particular path both environmentally and skill-wise.

A big, open game like nothing I ever seen with elements from all over with it’s dark areas, but mostly quite shiny and a bit strange with very bright starting area.

Making up new MMO concepts, systems and of course dreaming about them – those were the only things, which kept me going in some very dark times 3 – 4 years ago!

Definitely did when I was playing TSW and you know how creepy and ghoulish it could be…..mental note: turn on night light before bed…

Sadly not, which is probably for the best because if I could get that level of augmented reality in my favourite fantasy universes I probably would choose to stay asleep and not wake up and live out my ephemeral reveries full time :)

I keep telling you, as soon as real Nerve Gear is invented i’m out of here! lol

For some reason i dreamed mostly about playing as a trooper, by far my least favourite class in SWTOR, and it was usually on Taris which also sucks.

I get nightmares whenever i think of SWL not sure if that counts.

Once in a blue moon, usually when I’m really into something to where I’m playing it all the time and it’s on my mind a lot as a result.

Yes. Often. No, I’m not telling you what. :)

Bryan Correll

Yes, but nothing that would be at all interesting to describe.

Back in 2000 when the genre was new I did. I couldn’t wait to log in and play and would go all night.
