Well, it’s been some time since we’ve had a look inside the development progress of Starbase (considering progress is generally incremental), so it’s high time that we all got caught up on what’s been happening with that most granular of internet spaceship creation sandbox titles.

First off, we’ll look to the community newsletter, which offers up some links to handy player-made guides on how to make a plasma thrower and a generator automation script for YOLOL, along with a time lapse of a ship being put together. And speaking of community, the game is officially opening Russian language community hubs to support the large number of Russian players in the game.

As far as development progress, there’s been the usual weekly progress reports that showcase the slow, steady steps of Starbase’s development. Among these steps are tuning for a variety of weapons, continued work on the Demolition Job and adjustments to the Repair Job and Mining Job, improvements to the building tool’s UX, work on economy and inflation/deflation-related design plans, and an autobolt feature for the Bolt Tool among many, many, many other updates.

Readers should bear in mind that Starbase is still in closed alpha, which also still notes that the game is planned to release to early access on Steam sometime in 2020. Emphasis on “planned” there, then.
