Starting new

Being new in an MMO is a difficult thing if the game itself isn’t new. There’s a whole lot of player culture that already exists and a whole lot of existing knowledge among the playerbase. When you walk into a dungeon, you are the new person in a group full of people who probably know the place from previous experiences. Any questions you have are probably already answered elsewhere. It can be easy to be more than a little on edge and anxious about how other players will respond to you.

Of course, some games are better than others about this. Some games have a general player culture of helping people and welcoming new players with open arms, while others get irritated with new players and want them to just hurry up and skip the cutscenes or know the right way to skip enemies or whatever. So which MMO has the most welcoming culture for new players in your opinion?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
