The Daily Grind: Are there MMOs you like from studios you don’t?

I go ’round and ’round with this topic from year to year as the studios change and flux, which probably makes sense since I have a weird vantage from which to view this industry and I see a lot of shenanigans the average gamer doesn’t. But those shenanigans frequently mean that I fall in love with MMOs whose studios are a hot mess on some level or another.

For the purpose of today’s Daily Grind, I’m setting side the companies that are actively awful with, you know, massive industry-wide scandals, with games I have no plans to ever touch again; I’m aiming for studios that are messy but not so messy that I’m OK quitting and walking away. After all, it’s usually not the front-line developers themselves who pull little stunts that irk me; it’s usually some sort of mediocre mismanagement of the company, poor community relations, or treatment of press behind-the-scenes that gets under my skin and makes me wish I weren’t so fond of the game.
