The Daily Grind: How do you tend to deal with MMOs on major holidays?

One of the nice things in my youth about having a lot of major family holidays be at my own home was that when socializing with people got to be too much, it was easy to disengage and go hide in my room and play video games for a bit. That was nice. As someone who tends to have a fairly small social battery, it’s a good option to be able to take time away from large gatherings and then come back without anyone acting like it was unusual or finding a spare corner of the house to hide in for half an hour or whatever.

Most of this period of my life also predated the presence of MMOs in my life, though, and the thing about online games is that most of them are structured to expect you to log in and play every day. So how do you tend to deal with MMOs on major holidays? Do you just play normally? Do you check in for daily things but otherwise leave them alone? Do you actively gather there to celebrate with distant friends?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
