If there is a cosmetic item I want badly enough, I don’t care what content it’s gated behind; I’m just going to get it. That isn’t even a question. Sure, maybe it’s behind content I don’t particularly like. That’ll make the process a little more unpleasant, but I’ll still do it. The only reason I’m here is to look good, and if your game doesn’t let me do that, I’m not here. This is the appropriate reaction to have.
However, there are still different distances you have to walk. Sometimes there’s something you want that requires just a bit of extra grinding of content, and sometimes you have to build an entirely new character or find a grinding routine for content you otherwise ignore just to make it happen. So what’s the furthest out of your way you’ve gone to earn a cosmetic item in an MMO? Something that was in no way about the stats but just about looking dope?
