Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted aka Horizons is the classic MMORPG that keeps on truckin’ even though it flies below most genre fans’ radars; you might recall that we wondered what happened to it in June and found that it’s still getting updates. As a matter of fact, the game has been running for 20 years now, a milestone that Virtrium celebrated with a video package.

The video attempts the massive task of encapsulating Istaria’s “low resolution, interlaced beginnings, to a high fidelity vision of the future” with help from players who provided some of their very first steps into the MMORPG to current events. It’s likely a blast from the past for players and a great way for those unfamiliar with the title to get a broad-strokes look at where things have gone.

Speaking of what’s next, the game provided more details about its combat overhaul at the end of November, including the arrival of the adjustments to the Blight test server and a deep-dive document that elaborates on the changes.
