The Day Before dev studio announces its closure, claims the game ‘failed financially’

It hasn’t even been a week between the early access release of The Day Before and today, but supposedly the game’s launch has been bad enough that developer Fntastic has announced its closure, claiming the once-survival MMO “failed financially” and that the studio lacks the funds to continue.

“We have invested all our efforts, resources, and man-hours into the development of The Day Before,” the announcement claims. “We really wanted to release new patches to reveal the full potential of the game, but unfortunately, we don’t have the funding to continue the work.” What’s more, the studio says that all income that it received from sales of the shooter is “being used to pay off debts to [the studio’s] partners.”

The announcement is the final piece of an unsurprising but still depressing series of events that led from the game’s initial announcement to now, with multiple red flags flying in the wind over the course of 2023 for the game and Fntastic; we’ve assembled it all in the post list after the break. For now, the game’s servers will continue to stay online for the immediate future, but it looks as if that’s all she wrote.
