It would appear that Nexon’s looter shooter The First Descendant has taken the “copy your homework” meme a bit too literally, as players and game journalists both noticed how many of the shooter’s icons are a bit too close in design to those found in Destiny 2. However, Nexon has resolved to actually design its own iconography. Or to extend the metaphor, it will actually do its own homework this time.
“We have taken the concerns raised seriously and decided to make adjustments to ensure that the imagery that may appear similar clearly reflects the unique identity of our game,” reads a statement from Nexon about the matter. “We will continue to improve the game for fans of the looter shooter genre.”
The statement further admits that games like Destiny 2 “served as an inspiration during the development process” and is “personally admired and respected” by TFD’s dev team. Yet even though imitation may be considered the sincerest form of flattery, the barely copypasta’d icons will be updated.
