Today is the day when Sea of Thieves players can become the world event – and possibly have everyone’s guns trained on them in the process. Season 13 is underway in the piratical sandbox, and its primary feature will let players take over a powerful new ship, thus becoming the boss themselves.
The world event in question is centered around the fire-belching Burning Blade warship, a massive and heavily armed craft that can either be commandeered by player crews or sunk for unique rewards like the Blade of Souls weapon. The new season further introduces new skeleton camps that have puzzling rituals to solve within; doing so will either increase the value of the Burning Blade ship or the Blade of Souls weapon, which can then be cashed in by player crews.
Along with all of this fire-spewing, ritual-solving gameplay, the update adds faster sinking animations for defeated ships, places the Chest of Fortune within the Burning Blade’s hold, makes some improvements to the Bone Caller skeleton spawns, and applies a lengthy list of fixes.
