The white flag has gone up, the soldiers have laid down their arms, and the nearly decade-old conflict on mobile devices is now at an end. Space Ape’s Rival Kingdoms announced that it ended its eight-year run on August 14th with no plans to port the title elsewhere, sell it to another operator, or allow for private servers.
“It has been a privilege to run Rival Kingdoms for the past eight years and witness the game and its incredible community grow,” said Space Ape’s developers. “Unfortunately, all games have a life cycle, and Rival Kingdoms is no exception. The time has come to lay down our swords and staves and allow our kingdoms to rest.” A grim FAQ accompanies the announcement.
The mobile online real-time strategy game, penned by Rhianna Pratchett, launched in 2015 and allowed players to build up a medieval fantasy village while plundering others of their wealth.
