World of Tanks adds new light tanks, updates crew perks, and revamps maps in Hailstorm update

There’s a Hailstorm falling across World of Tanks, and yes, the capitalization of that word is an important qualifier because that’s the name of the military battler’s most recent patch, which Wargaming is calling its biggest update of 2024.

One of the major highlights is the arrival of four new Czechoslovakian light tanks, each of which boast unique firing mechanics that unleash a hailstorm of bullets (get it?) and swift flanking maneuverability. Another big piece of the pie is an update to crew perks, including the ability for individual crew members to learn up to six perks, training manual rewards being granted for earned XP after all six perks are learned, and new and rebalanced perks.

Other features of the patch include revamps to eight of the game’s maps, new random events added to three existing maps, the start of the Year of the Manticore for onslaught mode, and a variety of adjustments to consumables and vehicles. Finally, the new patch is cause for Wargaming to kick off a Back in Action event from now until September 23rd that promises goodies for returning players.
