I’m pretty sure that life in the Appalachia of Fallout 76 has been challenging for PC players ever since hackers found a way to nick people’s stuff from long distances. You’ll be glad to know, then, that the hack has been recently patched up so there shouldn’t be any further instances of players being looted like lockboxes.
The update itself was made this past Monday evening after an hour’s worth of maintenance. According to a forum post, the hack affected “a small number of characters,” but Bethesda is looking in to ways to compensate those who have been affected by the hack. Those who want to be counted are being asked to file a support ticket.
The whole affair caps off a 2019 full of mishaps, missteps, and some content updates as well, which are nodded to in a retrospective posted by the game. While most of the post focuses on positive additions to the game, it also does acknowledge its challenging year:
“It goes without saying that we had some rocky times this year, but the entire BGS team, working closely with you, not only addressed thousands of issues, but added meaningful improvements to quality of life. At the end of 2019, Fallout 76 is bigger, more stable, and more fun than ever before.”
