A game like War Thunder is going to feature some expected things, like military vehicles clashing against one another in certain scenarios. World War Season 3 is certainly not going to buck that trend, but the upcoming season will be changing things up a bit.
For those who aren’t familiar, World War mode has certain players serving as commanders moving armies on a strategic map while other players follow those orders with classic War Thunder gameplay. Instead of World War II scenarios, however, Season 3 will feature some slightly more modern engagements.
The first is a hypothetical scenario during the Cold War where Soviet forces attack Western Germany in the Fulda Gap and kick off World War III, while the second is a recreation of a tank battle from 1973 between Israeli and Arab forces along the western bank of the Suez Canal at an agricultural research location known on Israeli maps as the “Chinese farm.” Players will play out these fights in War Thunder, with a variety of tanks and helicopters from the second half of the 20th century, including T-80 and Leopard 2 tanks, Mi-24 and Bo 105 helicopters, and MiG-21 and F-104 fighter jets
The third season of World War mode is due to arrive in the coming weeks, with promise of details on new gameplay features like the role of helicopters due to arrive soon. For now, there’s a website post detailing the Chinese Farm scenario for those who want to learn more.
