Folks, it gives me absolutely no happiness to say this, but it’s increasingly difficult to see an outcome in the ongoing Activision-Blizzard scandal where things work out even remotely all right for the company and its games. Like, I’m not going to lie; my personal expectation is that between design issues and Blizzard’s resolute unwillingness to address its issues, I don’t expect the story to end with the company literally dead, but I do expect it to be functionally on life support once all of the revelations have come out. And no, I don’t think we’re done with those revelations just yet; I see this story getting worse before it gets better.
But I freely admit that this is coming from a place of someone who has long loved this company and is just increasingly disillusioned and disappointed. Maybe that’s influencing what I see as the likely outcome. Maybe you see it as being a blip the company can recover from in a couple of years, or maybe you see this as the catalyst for good and positive changes in the long term, which would be a welcome outcome. So what do you think the end looks like for the ongoing Blizzard saga?
