When last we checked in on the Tree of Savior franchise, it was last autumn, when IMC Games was pushing Tree of Savior M to Korean players and had shelved Re: Tree of Savior. The English-language version of the Tree of Savior MMO, of course, launched back in 2016, with minimal updates in recent months.
So this latest news is a little odd but relevant nonetheless: IMC Games is apparently launching a new free-to-play “Global” version on Papaya Play, a multinational publisher we haven’t heard from in the major MMO space in ages; its chief claim to fame right now is running Uncharted Waters Online, La Tale, and Echo of Soul Ragnarok.
“Papaya Play has officially announced the upcoming launch of Tree of Savior, its newest online game service. Developed by IMC Games, whose representatives include former developers of the famous MMORPG Ragnarok Online, Tree of Savior has over 60 different classes for players to choose from, allowing for a wide range of customization styles and strategies. Character models in Tree of Savior are fully rendered in a distinct hand-drawn style, evocative of fairy tales. A full musical soundtrack brings excitement and life to the vast world.
“The pre-registration period for Tree of Savior on Papaya Play has officially begun, as of April 4th, 2023. Players who pre-register will receive a variety of items for their character to enhance their gameplay experience, once the service officially launches.”
Launch is apparently coming in the “first half of 2023,” so within the next three months then. The game’s Discord is awash in confusion over the two global versions and what the differences will be, so we’re not alone in being puzzled, but in any case, preregistration is open on the Papaya site.
