Mobile gamers are perhaps familiar with the RPG AFK Arena. If you are, then you’re probably interested in learning that the sequel AFK Journey is out now, and it’s promising some familiar characters and all-new features. And if you happen to be one of those who never played the first title, it doesn’t look like that will be a hard requirement to enjoy the second game.
“AFK Journey whisks players back to the magical world of Esperia, where they will recruit numerous heroes to their cause, take on powerful foes, and earn rewards both through in-game actions and idle (AFK) mechanics.”
The use of the word “recruit” there naturally means that this game has gacha characters crammed into it, the very first of whom is the rifle spear-wielding Vala, while other features unique to AFK Journey include an open map to wander around in, a revamped combat system, and as its name suggests, ways to earn rewards while players are AFK.
While most of the game appears to be single-player, giveaways and promotions that celebrate its launch offer up goodies for doing things like joining a guild or engaging with what reads like multiplayer content such as an arena and boss fights. In any case, this unlikely sequel is indeed a thing for PC, iOS, and Android if one is so inclined to check it out.
